Japan National Anthem

The precise translation of "Kimigayo" is uncertain, it is thought to mean Emperor and State. The lyrics are based on a Waka poem written in the Heian period (794-1185), sung to a melody written in the later Meiji period. Officially adopted as national anthem in 1999.
