The Spiderwick Chronicles is a 2008 fantasy film adaptation of Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi's bestselling series of children's books.
Three children are unexpectedly drawn into a world of fairies, goblins and other creatures when they move with their mother into the deserted and run down Spiderwick Estate.
KS3 idea: Listen out for repeating arpeggio patterns in the soundtrack. They occur in different places in different patterns that have different effects on the listener. Ask pupils to describe the contour and complexity of each arpeggio pattern and consider how this affects the feeling it evokes.
