This unplugged version of God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen has been recorded using a variety of Present Aid gifts. Listen carefully and you should be able to hear squeaky shoes, a sewing machine, bike spokes, running water and more…

A choir of animals complete the track. Pigs, ducks, chickens and bees were conducted by top sound designer and fan of funny noises, Pendle Poucher.

Making a Hip Hop Beat

This movie lasts about 3 mins. Max Wheeler uses and Akai MPC sampler to play in a basic hip hop drum pattern at a tempo of 90 BPM. He explains which sounds go on which beat and then adds a few extra kick drum hits to add more interest. The principles are equally applicable to software drum sequencers.

Howard Blake - Walking In The Air

In 1983 the children's story 'The Snowman' by Raymond Briggs was made into an animated film with music by Howard Blake. 'Walking in the Air' is perhaps the most enduring item from the soundtrack. The treble solo was originally recorded by Peter Auty, but later became Aled Jones' first widely-acclaimed hit.

Writing A Rap - Getting Started
